Let’s face it; if you’re freedive hunting, you’re surely not wearing an open-heel fin foot-pocket. Therefore nothing but Yazbeck’s 100% pure CR Yamamoto Neoprene Socks should be even considered, for warmth, comfort and protection for your foot and toes.
Also, even in the warmest tropical water, you will need to wear these socks. They are just the right thickness. Any lesser thickness will not give you enough cushioning protection for your toes constantly squeezing against the top of the fin foot pocket as you kick your fins for long hours in the water.
Made of Yamamoto Neoprene, the outer front layer of the Yazbeck Freedive Hunter Socks is made of Smoothskin Neoprene for the best fit and grip in your full foot pocket freediving fins! Simple; it’s rubber against rubber. It doesn’t get any better than this for the best grip. So even if your fins are a bit loose … they will simply fit better after you wear them!
Their interior is lined with a special combination of plush and Nylon, for the softest feeling and the best protection for your toes against chaffing. They are also totally sealed inside, thanks to the smooth skin neoprene water-seal on their outer neck, that create an “O-Ring sealing efficiency” after the smooth skin seal of the Yazbeck wetsuits leg opening rolls down over it, sealing it shut for a 100% waterproof fit!
The inner sewing line connecting the smooth skin panel to its fabric laminated counterpart, is itself laminated with a special elastic heat tape, reinforcing that area and eliminating any risks of an accidental tear, due to excessive pulling. And at the same time, turns it into a “seamless” feeling inside for the ultimate comfort against your skin.
The Sole is made of ultra-supple Nylon, screened with a blend of a special rubberized Ink and Polyurethane InkDots™ for durability and a great holding power, making them virtually indestructible, season after season. You can finally have the firmest hold and even walk on rough surfaces occasionally such as rocks and gravel, without damaging them as you would with standard diving neoprene socks.

The quality is great, but the sizing is off for XL size. I wear 11.5/12 and ordered XL which according to the chart should have fit, but it’s a little too small. I can still starch it over my foot, but afraid it will compromise the comfort on a long dive.

I’ve been diving year-round on the North Shore of New England, USA for many years at this point. In the winter time it is absolutely critical to have well-constructed, warm, durable dive socks. The Yazbeck Hunter 7mm are far and away the best I’ve ever used. They are stitched, glued, and welded to keep the cold water out and the warmth in, while still being tough enough to take a pounding on the cold jagged shores of Rockport, MA.
