My Home Page:  Roger Yazbeck

Hello fellow Internet surfer and welcome to my home page. I'm very glad that you made it this far . . . and I hope that you'll stick around long enough to get to know just a little bit more about me and my life. After all, these days, acquaintances that begin in cyberspace are often the most real, vivid, and long-lasting - and maybe that will be true of us.

If you wish to get the complete picture, click on it (59K) for a "full screen view in high definition"
(with a 28.8 modem, it may take about one minute 28 sec.)

(The above photograph was shot in February 1997, and used as a cover for a music CD)

First, I strongly recommend that you bookmark this page, because I have intended it to be very informative on a wide variety of subjects... You will surely want to come
back often to:

My Background

I was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on April 2nd, 1957. I attended the notorious Jesuit Fathers school, "Notre Dame de Jamhour", where I got my education. So I grew up both in the midst of the Middle East traditions and culture, and the western education and languages.
Add to this the fact that both my parents were artistically and musically gifted, and you'll find it small wonder that I'm something of a puzzled multi-talented bio-chemistry university student, singer, musician, song-writer, magician, clown, turned administrator, turned cook, turned producer,  turned businessman ...
And the Jack of all trades list is long...
I spent 4 years fighting and hiding during the devastating War on Lebanon, which was ignited on Sunday April 13th, 1975. But finally, I decided to leave for Saudi Arabia in order to work there and provide for my family in Beirut. So I left Lebanon on February 6th, 1979 for my new job in a mechanical and electrical contracting company in Riyadh. I immigrated to Canada on the 5th of July, 1982 and lived in the beautiful city of Montréal, province de Québec, for 20 years. Then, on January 16, 2001, I moved to Los Angeles, California where I got married to Anne Wagner and we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Monet Antoinette, who was born in Santa Monica Hospital, on November 10, 2001

My Interests

I guess that the best - and fastest - way to really get to know me
is by discovering what I like. So here goes . . .
I love freediving/spearfishing, scuba diving, sea kayaking, working out at the gym, cycling, sporting clays, skeet and trap, hunting and fishing.
I adore movies, comedies, classical music, musicals and almost all kind of music (except for the weird stuff)
I'm an avid reader too. I would read anything, as long as it's informative and interesting... History, theology, science fiction, comics, thrillers, literature classics, etc. ...
I also love to "pour my soul" on paper, tape or screen, as I write new songs in French, English and Arabic... Play my guitar, accordion or piano/keyboards ... No human emotion can compare to what you feel when singing the song you just wrote, for the first time... or hearing it on tape after long recording studio hours... The feeling is more intense than the "runner's high" and close to the "apnea diver's ecstasy"... something like that immortality and invincibility sensation which makes your body and soul vibrate with the delightful fullness of a great personal achievement...

My Personal Records

This is a photographic retrospective of my life to date - a mere 43 years - and someday I'll add samples of my music, the songs I've composed, the video clips and other instrumental music and songs that I've produced. I am now in the process of finding the best conversion and compression software for that purpose, in order to make your listening and viewing experience a memorable one!

But until then, I've switched to another career ...
I am today in the Picasso Business!
From Pablo Ruiz Picasso's paintings to Alessandro Picasso's
Freediving and Spearfishing  gear and equipment.
My company, Picasso America is the exclusive agent of
Picasso diving equipment for North America
and the Middle East.
I must say that I am also involved with other companies,
nationally and internationally.
They are mostly companies that I created from scratch and of  which
I am today a share holder.
I will soon be publishing the complete story... So stay tuned :-)

Links to My Favorite Sites

Another way to really get to know someone - especially someone who spends
as much time on the Internet as I do - is to learn their favorite sites. So I have tried to make it interesting
to you, by creating links to other interesting sites on the net, within the many pages of my home page.
As you browse through this site, you will find many other links...
By the way, this Home Page (and all its sub pages) is best viewed using Netscape or Explorer 4 and up.
Although I've tried my best to make it "viewable" in any resolution, still I would advise
an  800 X 600, or even 1024 X 768  resolution for optimum viewing.
